Long time educator/administrator, Andrea Reed has a special connection to Sayre, Sayre Public Schools, and the Sayre Alumni Association.
Following her graduation from SWOSU in 1966, she and her family moved from Sayre to Liberal, Kansas, where she and her husband, Nick, both took teaching positions in elementary school. After three years, the family returned to Sayre where both taught in Sayre Elementary School.
She and Nick were Sayre Alumni, as were their three children. Mrs. Reed took time off from teaching to become the first woman to serve on the Sayre School Board. She returned to the school system as the first wom- an administrator after earning a Master’s Degree in Administration.

After ten years as Principal at Sayre Elementary, Mrs. Reed took the position of Principal at the newly established Sayre Middle School when the Sayre Jr. High School transitioned to 6th-8th grades, and Sayre High School was 9th-12th grades.
She served in that position for six years before retiring in 2004. Mrs. Reed stated, “I loved being a teacher, but I found being a principal was so rewarding because I got to know and interact with every child in my school-as well as their parents. Being a part of the annual Alumni celebration is a special treat.”
