Western Technology Center (WTC) proudly announces Oklahoma Highway Safety Offi ce (OHSO) as the recipient of the 2025 OkACTE Partners in Progress Award, a prestigious recognition presented by the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education (OkACTE) and the Oklahoma Association of Technology Centers (OATC). Each year, OkACTE and OATC recognize businesses for their outstanding commitment to the improvement of career technical education, workforce excellence, and education in the community.
For over 7 years, WTC has partnered with the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, providing motorcycle safety rider courses for individuals 14 years of age and older. The safety rider course provides online instruction and a driving range close to the WTC-Elk City campus. Motorcycles are provided through a grant with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). To date, WTC has prepared 698 motorcyclists to safely navigate the roadways.
OHSO provides vital resources, including funding, training materials, and guidance, which empowers WTC to deliver motorcycle safety training. WTC is the first MSF/ DPS school located in the western part of the state and has become vital to the training of motorcyclists in the area.
These initiatives focus on reducing motorcycle fatality incidents, increasing awareness and cultivating responsible behaviors among motorcycle riders. Together, WTC and OHSO are enhancing the safety and well-being of local communities and roadways.
