Ag in the Classroom – Read an Accurate Ag Book Week!
Sweetwater’s 1st–6th graders joined in the fun of Read an Accurate Ag Book Week, sponsored by Ag in the Classroom! Students participated in special readings through Zoom with local media personalities, or listened to Mrs. Reed share, “Grady’s in the Silo,” by Una Belle Townsend — the true story of a cow who jumped into a concrete silo and the 5-day effort to rescue her! After the story, students put their ag knowledge to work with a farm-themed maze activity and cryptogram.
Special highlights: 3rd Grade listened to a reading from Tevis Hillis, News 9 Anchor & Reporter, who shared, “ I Love Strawberries” by Shannon Anderson.
4th Grade tuned in with KC Sheperd, Radio Host & Director of Farm and Ranch Programming at the Radio Oklahoma Ag Network, who read “The Dirt Book” by David L. Harrison.
We are so thankful to Ag in the Classroom and special readings to bring agriculture stories to life for our students!
