Two New Grants Give Sayre a Boost

The City of Sayre has received two major grants aimed at strengthening both the community’s infrastructure and its longterm economic outlook.

The first award, a SWODA REAP grant, will allow the city to completely refurbish the far-north water tower, located just north of the Sayre Schools campus. REAP (the Rural Economic Action Plan) provides funding to small communities for essential infrastructure improvements, and updating the water tower will help ensure dependable water service, improved system safety, and long-term reliability for residents and the school district.

The second award comes from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, supporting the development of a comprehensive community marketing plan for Sayre. This plan will focus on identifying and promoting the town’s strongest marketable assets—its Route 66 appeal, industrial potential, transportation access, small-town charm, and more. The goal is to create a strategic, unified approach that attracts businesses, supports growth, and opens new economic opportunities for the entire community.

Together, these two grants represent both practical improvements and forward- looking planning—one strengthening what Sayre already depends on, and the other helping shape what Sayre can become.

It’s an exciting time to care about Sayre, and these investments signal real momentum for the town’s future.
