The Sayre Fire Department has confirmed that several recent shed fires in the community are considered suspicious.
In a statement, Colter Sanders, Chief of the Sayre Fire Department, said the department is aware of multiple recent shed fires and has contacted the Office of the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal to assist with the investigation.
“The Sayre Fire Department is aware of several recent shed fires within our community. At this time, these fires are considered suspicious in nature, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal has been contacted. The safety of our residents remains our top priority. We ask the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. If you observe individuals walking around residential areas at night or in the early morning hours, or notice anything unusual, please contact the Police Department immediately. We appreciate the cooperation of our community as this matter is being addressed and will provide updates as appropriate.”
