Canute’s fall esports season concluded in dramatic fashion, highlighted by a national championship, multiple state titles, and several program firsts across both high school and middle school competition.

The Canute Rocket League team captured the PLAYVS Unified Central Region High School National Championship with a thrilling 4–3 series victory over Delavan, Illinois. The championship was secured via a gentleman’s reverse sweep, as Canute rallied from a 3–1 series deficit to win three consecutive matches.

Despite strong early performances from Adrian Cortez (Synnical) and Cash Boston (HDM Wheelchair), Canute fell behind as Delavan took control behind clutch play from DiCalzi and Savvi. The momentum shifted in Match 5 when the teams were tied 3–3 and the game went to overtime. Just 11 seconds into the extra period, Cortez scored the game-winner to keep Canute’s title hopes alive.
