I can stop thinking “I Can’t”
We all have bad habits we’d like to break, but it often seems we just “can’t.” Breaking the bad habit of thinking “I can’t” is the first essential step to freedom from any destructive habit such as physical or emotional dependencies, foul language and complaining. Eliminating “I can’t” is especially necessary for anyone who claims a relationship with the Lord Jesus. Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things in Christ Who empowers me.” To say, “I can’t” is saying “God is a liar.” It sounds innocent, but is a serious and offensive accusation against God’s promise to empower His children!

Felon’s impending release sparks angst among family
DEAR ABBY: My boyfriend, “Will,” and I have been together for seven years. We get along great. I love his close-knit family and adore his parents. He’s the youngest of five brothers, most of whom I get along with great. The only brother I don’t know is the oldest. “Rick” has been incarcerated for the better part of 30 years for rape. I’ve always known about him and the “sugar-coated” circumstances surrounding his incarceration.

A 40-year-old Elk City woman has been charged with assault and battery in the Beckham County District Court.

Elk City man charged with strangulation
A 36-year-old Elk City man has been charged with domestic assault and battery by strangulation in the Beckham County District Court. The investigation began on April 9 when police were called to an Elk City home in reference to an alleged domestic assault and battery. The responding officer learned that the suspect, Kyle Cox, had left the scene.
