Family Friend Is Sidelined Amid Milestone Celebrations
DEAR ABBY: I have been friends for 20 years with a kind and caring woman, “Brenda.” We always shared life moments, until recently. I thought of her children as my own. Her son got married (not in a formal or traditional wedding) and didn’t want anyone there except his parents, siblings and a few friends. I was hurt that I wasn’t included, since Brenda always integrated herself into my life even when I may not have wanted her to.

Sayre man charged with pointing firearm, threatening violence
A 64-year-old Sayre man has been released from the Beckham County Detention Center after being charged with planning an act of violence, feloniously pointing a firearm, and threatening to perform an act of violence. If convicted, Kevin Ray Powers will face up to ten years in prison. The investigation reportedly began on May 11 when the Sayre Police were called to the 800 block of North Second Street.

Berlin Community News
Berlin Community Building will host the annual fundraiser dinner on June 8, 2024, at 6:00 pm. The monies raised will be used for the upkeep of the building and to continue the monthly dinners. As money is available, building improvements are completed. The menu will consist of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, rolls, salad, homemade desserts and is by donation.

Retired Colonel Doug Haught Talks D-Day at Memorial Ceremony
The annual Memorial Day Service was held at the Veterans’ Memorial at Fairlawn Cemetery, Monday, May 27th, at 10:30 a.m. Organizer Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning welcomed the veterans and guests to the ceremony. He turned the program over to Shawn Wilson, who provided the sound system, and sang several patriotic songs.
