Willa Mae Ditmore was born December 10, 1922 to Maude Huls in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She passed on May 19, 2024 in Elk City, OK at the age of 101 years, 5 months, and 9 days. Willa grew up in Clinton, OK attending and graduating in the Clinton public schools. She married to HC (Shady) Ditmore in 1942 and to this union four children were born Carl, Judy Ann, John, and David. Willa worked for Swift Trucking after high school as their secretary in Clinton. After Swift trucking she worked as the accountant for Clinton Sherman Air Force base. Finally she processed loans for Farmer Home Administration (FMHA) in Sayre, OK. Invasive Zebra Mussels Reach Tom Steed Reservoir
Invasive zebra mussels have been confirmed for the first time in Tom Steed Reservoir in Kiowa County, according to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. The mussels were discovered by U.S. Bureau of Reclamation engineers during a recent routine dam inspection. A 33-year-old Elk City man has been released from the Beckham County Detention Center after being charged with domestic assault and battery resulting in great bodily injury. Although the charges were officially filed on May 13, the report states the investigation began in September.
