NORMA LOIS REED
Norma grew up on the family farm near Mayfield and attended school until the 8th grade. She transferred to Sweetwater where she graduated in 1940. After graduation, she furthered her education at Weatherford, Oklahoma and was able teach school on her associates degree. She was married on July 10, 1943 to Leldon Mancil Reed in Erick, Oklahoma. Following their marriage they boarded a bus and returned to Oklahoma City where Leldon had secured employment. While in Oklahoma City, Norma was a stay at home mother until 1960 when they moved back to the family farm near Mayfi eld, Oklahoma.
In 1962, twenty years later, Norma returned to college in Weatherford, Oklahoma where she received her bachelors degree in education and formally began her teaching career. She taught at Berlin, Weaver, and Vici where she retired and moved back to the Mayfield community. After the death of her father in 2002 Norma moved to Erick until present. Norma always enjoyed raising plants, gardening, crocheting, crafts, researching illnesses on the internet, reading, and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Nathan Reed; sisters, Lorraine Griffin, and Shirley Anderson.
Norma is survived by her 4 children, Sharon Riddle and husband, Ed, Grand Junction, CO, Ken Reed and wife, Pam, Mayfield, OK, Alan Reed, Erick, OK, and Barry Reed and wife, Carolyn, Woodward, OK; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives, friends, and former students.
