RONALD WINN
Ronald Pledger “Ron” Winn passed from this life on July 8, 2025, in Altus at age 89. He was born on May 25, 1936, in Big Spring, Texas to Owen Winn and Edith (Moore) Winn. Ron grew up in Sayre and graduated from Sayre High School. He joined the US Army, served for 2 years and then for 4 more years in the National Guard and Reserves. Ron married the love of his life Kay Francis Bohanon on April 16, 1959, in Sayre and enjoyed 66 years of marriage. They were blessed with four children: Ronald Phil, Mary Lisa, Debra Denise, and Sherry Dawn. Ron had a long career as route salesman for Wonder Bread Company. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, watched the Thunder, loved to watch western movies, raised a beautiful garden, and in his early years liked to play basketball, was extremely talented, quite the fisherman as well, but most of all Ron loved his family and his beloved pets, Snowball, Muff and Toby. Ron is survived by his loving wife Kay, son Ronald Phil Winn and wife Mary of Elk City, daughters, Mary Lisa Horn and husband Dean of Sayre, Debra Denise Balderas and husband Jesse of Altus and Sherry Lookingbill and John also of Altus, brother Marion Winn and wife Sherial of Sanger, CA, sister Charlotte Winn of Cisco, Texas. Ron leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Owen and Edith Winn and brothers Thomas Winn and Donald “Don” Winn. Services for Ron were held Saturday, July 12, 2025, 10:00 A.M.at the East Side Baptist Church, located at 421 N. Booth, Elk City, with Pastor Les Banks officiating, his grandsons served as his pallbearers, Nathan Horn, Jory Price, Matt Yost, Kyle Horn, and grandson-in-law’s Jesse Balderas and John Lookingbill. Interment followed at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, where the US Army Honor Guard performed graveside rites. Public viewing for Ron was held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M, at People’s Funeral Home, located at 1400 West Main, Lone Wolf, 580-846-9018.
